Washing Machine is stopping on the cycle

Washing Machine is stopping on the cycle

There are many reasons why this would happen. One of the most expensive components on a washing machine is the programme timer & of the lowest failure rates.

In order for the timer to complete the cycle. All the other components should be in good working order also. The machine must fill to a washing level, heat the water, empty the water, fill & empty for the rinses & then spin & knock itself off.

It is important to assess if the machine has water in it when it stops on the cycle or not. If the washing machine hasn’t water in it. If the machine has water in it. Check the heater is o.k. If the heater is faulty. Replace the heater . If the heater is o.k. You may need to call an engineer. If the machine won’t empty.

Washing Machine is tearing my clothes

Washing Machine is tearing my clothes

When your washing machine is marking or tearing your clothes it is usually caused by one of two faults:

  • Check the Drum for rough edges. You can do this by using tissue paper to rub against the inner surface of the Drum. If the tissue paper tears, it’s a sharp that causes it.

  • The front drum felt or, front felt as it’s known in the trade. It’s used to support the front of the tumble dryer drum as it rotates. A simple system and very effective. If you’re getting a scratching noise in your tumble dryer this is a good place to start looking.

If this seal is worn or torn the clothes in the drum may get caught and torn in the space between the front housing and the front lip of the DrumReplace if Faulty.

My Dishwasher door will not stay closed

My Dishwasher door will not stay closed

Generally when your dishwasher door won't stay shut it’s something simple that is causing the problem.

This problem is normally caused by a fault in one of three items

 Door Catch

The Door Catch on many dishwashers is adjustable. If your Dishwasher Door is easy to close but will not stay closed, adjust the Door Catch to allow the door to stay closed more easily. If you can't adjust the Door Catch, yours may not be adjustable. If the Door Catch is worn, you may need to replace the Door Catch. If this doesn’t sort it, check the Door Hinge or Door Spring to see if they’re in line.

 Door Spring

Your dishwasher has a Door Spring attached to the Door Hinge at either side to counterbalance the weight of the Dishwasher Door. If either or both of these are broken, the door feels quite heavy, will drop quickly, you’ll need to replace both Door Springs.

 Door Hinge

The Door Hinges are important to keeping the door closing properly. If they're bent or warped, you probably need to replace them. If they are bent, it’s very difficult to straighten them sufficiently in order for them to work properly. We recommend you replace both Door Hinges.

Door seal - If your dishwasher is new - or if you have just replaced door seal - the door may be difficult to keep closed for a week or two. If the tightness persists, try adjusting the Door Catch, if it's adjustable. If it's not adjustable, there's probably nothing you can do immediately. Try setting the dishwasher on the hottest cycle to help the seal to adjust to the shape of the Dishwasher Door. The Door Seal should compress over time.

Should this all prove too difficult and you need a to call a dishwasher repairs in Sydney give Oxford Service Appliance Repairs a call for all your dishwasher repairs in Sydney.

If you still fancy doing DIY dishwasher repairs  yourself and you need dishwasher spare parts or dishwashing machine spare parts & accessories then contact our sister company Oxford Appliance Parts in Bondi Junction for all your appliance spare parts needs.

My Tumble Dryer is not Heating

My clother dryer is not heating

If yout tumble dryer does not heat, it might be worth checking

The cut outs are replaced as a separate part.

Some manufacturerers recommend replacing the cut outs when replacing the heater element. They are easily worked from the back of the tumble dryer by accessing the heater element using a standard screwdriver to remove / replace the heater.

The food in my fridge is freezing?

The food in my fridge is freezing?

This happens quite a lot. Here are a few pointers that might set you in the right direction.

  • Adjust the thermostat to a lower number on the dial. Check the temperature using a fridge/freezer thermometer (proper fridge temperature should be 2-5 degrees Celsius).
  • Cold air moves downwards. The bottom of the fridge is the coldest area. Move the food you need coldest around the fridge accordingly.
  • If you still have the problem at this stage, and, adjusting the thermostat dial isn’t correcting the fridge temperature. The thermostat looks like the culprit. Most fridge thermostats are unrepairable. Replace if faulty.
  • The final solution. There could be a leak in the gas/refrigerant system. You’ll need to consult a suitably qualified engineer.

Should you need to call a fridge repair in Sydney give Oxford Service Appliance Repairs a call for all your fridge repairs in Sydney. If you want to DIY fridge repairs and you need fridge spare parts or freezer spare parts contact our sister company Oxford Appliance Parts in Bondi Junction.

Clicking sound from washing machine?

Washing Machine Repairs Sydney

Do you hear a constant clicking sound?

•The top of the agitator may make a constant clicking sound when washing small loads or when washing at low water levels. This is normal. The top of the agitator makes less sound with large loads at higher water levels.

Are there items in the load that have metal buckles, snaps or zippers? Are there other loose items like coins?

•Metal buckles, snaps or zippers from clothing can clang or scrape against the washer. Before putting your load in the washer, always check for any loose items. Remove these items from the load, and try running a cycle to see if the noise has gone away.

Does your old fridge need replacing?

Does your old fridge need replacing?

When you buy a fridge, you expect to get many years of usage out of it, as it is such a large and costly appliance to buy.  Unfortunately, as your fridge gets older, it will eventually reach the point where you may actually be better off buying a new fridge.  Here are Oxford Service Appliance Repairs tips to help you recognise when it’s time to bite the bullet and replace your fridge.

Replace Your Fridge to Improve Energy Efficiency

While your old fridge may still be doing a good job of keeping things cool, it could be using a lot of power to do so.  In fact, an old fridge can be one of the biggest energy guzzlers in the home which is terrible when you consider how expensive electricity is getting (not to mention the impact on the environment!).  If you are worried about how much power your old fridge is using, it is possible to buy an energy meter from a  hardware or electronics store or borrow one from your local library to measure exactly how much power your fridge is using.  If it is an unacceptable amount, buying a new fridge is warranted as they will use much less power per year.  Look for a fridge with the highest possible energy rating.

If you are handy at DIY you could of course carry out simple fridge repairs yourself and purchase the required fridge spare parts from Oxford Appliance Parts in Sydney.

Replace Your Fridge If Repairs are not Viable

While the fridge is one of the more reliable of appliances, fridges need repair just like anything else. Sometimes the fridge repair problem is relatively easy to fix, while other times, the fridge repair can be more expensive and it really is more economical to buy a new fridge. For example, if your fridge just needs the seals replaced, then this is a simple and worthwhile repair. However, if the thermostat has gone or the motor has seized, these can be quite expensive to repair and so it may be more practical just to buy new depending of course on the age of the fridge needing repair.  If you are unsure, your local Sydney appliance repair specialist at Oxford Service Appliance Repairs can give you a quote on the cost of repairing your broken fridge. You can then decide what you want to do.  If your fridge has broken down more than once, you may also decide to bite the bullet and replace it as there are no guarantees that it won’t break down again.

Fridge_repairs_sydney

Replace Your Fridge when it is No Longer Practical

This may sound rather extravagant but if your fridge isn’t practical anymore, then you really are better off replacing it. For example, if you have moved, your fridge may not fit in the new kitchen properly. If your family has grown larger or smaller, there is a good chance that your fridge is too small or too big – both of which cause it to run inefficiently, either trying to keep too much food at the correct temperature, or wasting energy cooling empty space.

Another option of course is to rent a fridge if purchasing one is not affordable at the moment. There are a great range of fridges for hire out there from RentaCentre. The best part of renting a fridge in Sydney from RentaCentre is that if your fridge breaks you just ring them a get a new fridge for hire, so you don't need to worry about fridge repairs or warranties etc plus no hassle of moving the fridge when you move home.

Choose the right Appliance Repair Service

Choose the right Appliance Repair Service

Appliance_repairs_sydney_2

It can be difficult to know which Sydney Appliance Repair Service to call when your fridge needs repairs or dishwasher needs servicing. There are some things you should look for, and some things to look out for, when deciding. If you've ever felt that you were over-charged, or taken advantage of, by an Appliance Repair Service, you need to read this.

  • Ask your friends for a referral. The very best way to find an Appliance Repair Service is by "Referral". When someone you know recommends a company they were completely happy with(which includes service, price, professionalism, etc.)then you already know you're getting a good company. Just be sure you trust this person's opinion!
  • Ensure the person is registered. The Sydney Appliance Repair Service business should be registered with an ABN for that state.
  • Check the length of time the company has been in business at the same location, under the same name. A company with a long local history is a better bet than a recent startup with no history in the area.
  • Look to see that they are in the major business internet directories.(yellowpages.com.au, trulocal, google maps, yahoo local, etc.)
  • Weigh the benefits of the personal attention you will receive from a family-owned business vs the unknown technician a larger company will send. A local person has a reputation to uphold locally. A representative of a large national chain however, may or may not be concerned about giving you the best deals or service.
  • Use a reputable business that has a contact address and a landline number. It may cost you more in the long run by getting the local repair guy that sticks a card up on your local supermarket noticeboard & who operates from his van or ute with a mobile phone number, you should consider this a red flag.

Tips

  • Consider the value of the appliance you are repairing. It may be more economical to replace an appliance than to repair it, when cost, life expectancy, and efficiency are considered.
  • Before replacing an appliance, it's worth a service call to find out exactly what's wrong. Many times people will buy a new appliance without even checking out what it would take to fix the one they have. They assume it's going to cost too much when sometimes it's a quick, minor, inexpensive repair. (providing you call an "honest" repair service)

If you need an appliance repaired in the Sydney metro are plase be sure to give Oxford Service Appliance Repairs a call. For more details please visit our website

You might also notice a smell of gas and a delay in the burner lightning also. Please keep your manual handy so that you can follow the instructions when you are cleaning the burners. Safety measures should be given priority. Dismantle the stove and lift the upper portion of the range to get access to the burner. To clean the holes use a thin wire or needle. Wash the burners with hot soapy water and let it dry completely.

There might be few other reasons why your stove stops working. If the burner is not getting enough air, the flame will be blue, yellow and white. Both mixture of gas and air is needed to burn powerfully. In this case you need to adjust the pilot. The filter valve and the control knobs need to be fixed. A screwdriver is needed to be attuned to change the colour.

If you gas oven is not heating properly remove the doors and clean the burners flame opening. Check the oven temperature control. On the thermostat there is a pilot adjustment screw which needs to be adjusted. If this doesn’t help the thermostat needs to be replaced.

Sometimes the heating element does not work. It might be possible that food particles might have fallen on it and the coil is burnt. Thus the coil needs to be replaced.

Your washing machine, dryer, fridge, and other appliances are essential for everyday life. A damaged appliance can spell complete disaster for your regular schedule. You have the option to fix your appliance yourself or to call a local appliance repair company and ask them to handle the task. Regardless of which you choose, you should make sure that safety is a top concern during the appliance repair work.

Before you begin a do-it-yourself repair project, take some time to look at your appliance’s safety and repair manuals. These brochures have step by step safety instructions on how to avoid being injured by the appliance. Spinning and fast moving parts often cause injury, as does electric shock. Taking time to go over the repair manual will give you a chance to identify and avoid these common dangers. Taking the manufacturer’s suggestions seriously is one of the best ways to stay safe.

If you take basic steps to reduce the risks around you, it is not hard to stay safe. If you have long hair, you need to tie it back or use a hat when doing repair work. You also need to remove bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and any other loose jewelry. The reason is that anywhere appliance repair could be done on machines with moving parts using tools that may pose a risk if your hair or jewelry were to get caught in them.

Just ensuring that you are using the appropriate tools will keep you safe. You could further damage the appliance or injure yourself if you try to handle an appliance repair job with tools that are not designed for what you are doing. Check the manufacturer’s notes on which tools to use and make sure that’s what you have.

Even if you have a bit of experience with DIY home appliance repair work, some anywhere appliance repair tasks might not be safe for you to do as an amateur. Instead of tackling a project that you really are not ready for, it would be best to contact a professional. Repairing an appliance requires a professional with expert knowledge.
